JM Eagle Hosts Rep. Alexander at Batchelor Plant

Louisiana Congressman Tours Plastic Pipe Factory, Lauds Manufacturing Sector Job Creation

Los Angeles - March 21, 2011 – JM Eagle, the world’s largest manufacturer of plastic pipe, welcomed Rep. Rodney Alexander (LA-05) to its plant in Batchelor on Friday. The congressman toured the state-of-the-art facility located in his Pointe Coupee Parish district, met with employees and praised JM Eagle for fostering private sector job creation.

“Manufacturing jobs are critical to the growth of the 5th District and JM Eagle’s Batchelor facilities play an important role in that growth by providing hard-working folks with quality jobs that result in high-quality products,” Alexander said. “It was great to meet with JM employees and hear first-hand about how critical manufacturing is to our community and our nation.”

Rep. Alexander was greeted at the Marion Monk Road plant by JM Eagle’s Batchelor Plant Manager Greg Mayeux. During the hour-long tour of the facility to witness pipe being “extruded,” or produced, the congressman spoke informally to nearly 59 employees and responded to questions.

“JM Eagle's growing presence in Batchelor is critical to the production of our pipe, which sets the industry standard for quality, strength and reliability. With Louisiana’s unemployment nearing double digits and manufacturing jobs leaving the state, nothing is more important than keeping Louisianan’s working,” Mayeux said. “We are honored to have Congressman Alexander take time out of his busy schedule to tour our plant and share his views about the important role of manufacturing jobs to our state’s economy.”
